ADEPTUS

ADEPTUS performs large-scale analysis of gene expression profiles and somatic mutation data to support disease prediction, DO/pathway/GO enrichment, and network-based functional genomics using a curated database of over 38,000 gene expression profiles across more than 100 diseases.

Key Features:

  • Curated database: Maintains a high-quality collection of over 38,000 gene expression profiles covering more than 100 diseases.
  • Disease Ontology (DO), Pathway, and Gene Ontology (GO) Enrichment Analysis: Computes enrichment of input gene lists across DO, pathways, and GO terms and presents results as network-based representations.
  • Network construction for drug repurposing: Builds comprehensive disease-specific gene networks that encapsulate genomic events to highlight potential drug-repurposing targets.
  • Gene behavior summarization: Generates detailed reports summarizing individual gene behavior across multiple studies.
  • Tissue-of-origin and disease prediction: Predicts tissue origin and disease classification from gene expression profiles or somatic mutation data.

Scientific Applications:

  • Disease mechanism elucidation: Supports identification of molecular pathways and ontology terms associated with disease states via enrichment and network analyses.
  • Drug discovery and repurposing: Identifies candidate therapeutic targets and repurposing opportunities through disease-specific gene network analysis.
  • Cancer research and diagnostics: Aids determination of cancer tissue of origin and disease classification using expression and somatic mutation signatures.

Methodology:

Uses a curated database of >38,000 gene expression profiles across >100 diseases; performs DO, pathway, and GO enrichment analyses; constructs disease-specific gene networks that encapsulate genomic events; summarizes gene behavior across multiple studies; and predicts tissue origin and disease classification from gene expression profiles or somatic mutation data.
