BEL Commons
BEL Commons provides an environment to explore, analyze, curate, and integrate Biological Expression Language (BEL) networks to support systems- and network-biology knowledge discovery.
Key Features:
- File Management: Uploads BEL-format files which are parsed, validated, compiled, and stored with fine-grained permissions.
- Network Exploration and Sharing: Summarizes and explores BEL networks and supports sharing of networks for collaborative use.
- Query Builder: Constructs targeted queries to locate relevant subgraphs and relationships within large BEL networks.
- Visualization Interface: Renders and enables interactive examination of network structures and relationships.
- Analytical Services: Provides integrated data-driven analysis on knowledge networks to support hypothesis generation.
Scientific Applications:
- Systems Biology: Enables integrative management and analysis of BEL-encoded networks for systems- and network-biology research.
- Genomics and Proteomics: Supports interpretation of network interactions relevant to genomics and proteomics studies.
- Hypothesis Generation: Facilitates deriving insights and generating hypotheses from complex biological networks.
Methodology:
Parses, validates, compiles, and stores BEL-format files; supports network summarization, exploration, query construction, visualization, and integrated analytical services.
