CATANA
CATANA annotates alternative transcript events by identifying ten types of alternative splicing (AS) and alternative transcription (AT) events to generate comprehensive annotations of transcript isoforms for studies of gene regulation and transcript diversity in higher eukaryotes.
Key Features:
- Comprehensive Annotation: Provides annotation coverage for both alternative splicing (AS) and alternative transcription (AT) events.
- Ten Event Types: Identifies and annotates ten distinct types of AS and AT events.
- Encoded Exon Usage Patterns: Encodes exon usage patterns using a flattened gene model.
- Input Sources: Generates annotations from genome annotation or RNA-seq data.
Scientific Applications:
- Transcript Isoform Analysis: Enables detailed annotation of transcript isoforms to characterize transcript diversity.
- Gene Regulation Studies: Supports analysis of how alternative splicing and transcription affect gene regulation and function.
- Genetics, Molecular Biology and Personalized Medicine: Facilitates isoform-level investigations relevant to genetics, molecular biology, and personalized medicine.
Methodology:
Identifies ten types of AS and AT events and encodes exon usage patterns derived from a flattened gene model; annotations are produced from genome annotation or RNA-seq data.
