CancerTracer

CancerTracer catalogs intrapatient tumor heterogeneity and reconstructs patient-specific tumor evolutionary trajectories from somatic mutation and copy number alteration data to support analyses of cancer progression and treatment resistance.

Key Features:

  • Intra- and Inter-Metastatic Heterogeneity Data: Includes data on multiple subclones within primary tumors and individual metastatic lesions and on subclonal differences across metastatic sites within the same patient.
  • Somatic Mutations and Copy Number Alterations: Catalogs somatic mutations and copy number alterations as principal genomic drivers of tumor heterogeneity.
  • Patient-Specific Phylogenetic Trees: Constructs phylogenetic trees per patient based on somatic mutations or copy number alterations identified across multiple biopsies to visualize clonal composition and evolutionary pathways.

Scientific Applications:

  • Identification of Driver Events: Enables identification of trunk mutations and common driver events shared by all tumor regions within a cancer type.
  • Investigation of Molecular Mechanisms: Supports studies of molecular mechanisms underlying intratumor heterogeneity, including analyses relevant to drug resistance and treatment failure.
  • Phylogenetic Relationships: Facilitates exploration of evolutionary relationships between primary tumors and metastatic lesions.

Methodology:

CancerTracer aggregates genomic data from multi-region and single-cell sequencing of over 6000 tumor samples across 1548 patients encompassing 45 cancer types and constructs patient-specific phylogenetic trees from somatic mutation and copy number alteration profiles identified across multiple biopsies.
