ConTEdb

ConTEdb compiles and organizes transposable element (TE) sequences identified in conifer genomes to support analysis of TE diversity, classification, and genomic distribution.

Key Features:

  • Comprehensive TE Dataset: Contains 413,423 transposable elements classified into 11,133 families from the conifer species Picea abies, Picea glauca, and Pinus taeda.
  • Transposable Element Classification: Organizes TE sequences into families to support comparative genomic and evolutionary studies.
  • Sequence Retrieval and Download: Provides access to TE sequences for downstream genomic and computational analyses.
  • Integrated TE Analysis Tools: Includes analytical utilities for examining TE distribution and characteristics within conifer genomes.

Scientific Applications:

  • Transposable Element Genomics: Investigates TE composition and diversity within large conifer genomes.
  • Genome Evolution Studies: Analyzes the evolutionary roles of transposable elements in conifer genome expansion and diversification.
  • Functional Genomics of Conifers: Examines potential regulatory and genomic effects of TEs in Picea and Pinus species.

Methodology:

ConTEdb was constructed by identifying and classifying transposable elements within the genomes of Picea abies, Picea glauca, and Pinus taeda using multiple computational approaches to generate a curated TE dataset.
