FieldView

FieldView enables real-time integration, processing, and visualization of field-collected data via mobile, cloud, and immersive analytics to support situated analysis in domains such as environmental science and public safety.


Key Features:

  • Integration of Mobile, Cloud, and Immersive Analytics: Combines mobile, cloud-based, and immersive analytics for real-time data processing and visualization of field-collected data.
  • Extensible Open-source Prototype: Provided as an extensible open-source prototype that allows adaptation and extension of its analytical and processing functionalities.
  • Support for Situated Field Analysis: Supports integration of data into operational workflows and addresses field constraints including limited connectivity, constrained screen space, and restricted attentional resources.

Scientific Applications:

  • Environmental monitoring: Enables monitoring of ecological changes and assessment of pollution levels from on-site data.
  • Wildlife tracking: Facilitates tracking of wildlife movements using field-collected observations and sensor data.
  • Public safety and disaster response: Provides on-the-ground data analysis to inform disaster response and other public safety operations.

Methodology:

Development used design probes and expert interviews with ten experts across five domains to identify key scenarios and design considerations for future field analysis systems.
