Genome3D
Genome3D provides consensus structural annotations and 3D models for protein sequences from model organisms, including humans, by integrating predictions from SCOP, CATH, SUPERFAMILY, Gene3D, FUGUE, THREADER, and PHYRE to support structural and comparative analyses.
Key Features:
- Consensus Structural Annotations: Provides consensus structural annotations and representative 3D models for protein sequences from selected model organisms.
- API-driven Submission Protocol: Implements an API-driven data submission protocol that allows contributing groups to manage their own structural annotations.
- Instant Validation and Automation: Performs instant validation of submitted data and supports automated integration into contributors' internal workflows.
- Expanded Dataset (v2.1): Updates the sequence dataset in release v2.1 using the most recent reference proteomes from UniProtKB, including cow, pig, wheat, and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
- Increased Annotation Volume: Nearly doubles the number of annotations since the prior update through improved predictions from contributing resources and added proteomes.
- Integration with InterPro: Facilitates dissemination of Genome3D annotation data and contributing algorithm identifiers into InterPro via the API.
Scientific Applications:
- Structural Genomics: Facilitates study and comparison of protein structures across model organisms.
- Comparative Proteomics: Enables comparative analysis of protein sequences and structural annotations among model organisms.
- Drug Discovery and Development: Assists identification of potential drug targets through structural annotations and models.
Methodology:
A collaborative data pipeline integrates predictions from SCOP, CATH, SUPERFAMILY, Gene3D, FUGUE, THREADER, and PHYRE; submissions are managed via an API with instant validation and support for automated integration, the API follows the OpenAPI standard, and the sequence dataset is updated from UniProtKB reference proteomes.
