HydroSight
HydroSight implements joint estimation of gross recharge, transmissivity, storativity, and daily groundwater usage from groundwater time-series to quantify aquifer behavior and support hydrogeological analysis.
Key Features:
- Joint Estimation Framework: Jointly estimates gross recharge, transmissivity, storativity, and daily groundwater usage across multiple production bores to address unavailable or uncertain hydraulic properties.
- Genetic Evolutionary Scheme: Employs a genetic evolutionary scheme to estimate time-series model parameters and usage estimates that align with metered volumes, fit observed hydrographs, and generate plausible actual evapotranspiration for recharge refinement.
- Data Quality Analysis Module: Includes a data quality analysis module that rigorously tests model calibrations to ensure consistency and accuracy in parameter estimation.
- Flexibility and Scalability: Supports building models for individual bores or scaling to hundreds of bores for statistical identification of dominant processes and quantification of aquifer heterogeneity.
Scientific Applications:
- Aquifer Characterization: Estimates transmissivity, storativity, and recharge to support detailed aquifer property characterization.
- Groundwater Usage Analysis: Models daily groundwater usage patterns to inform consumption trend analysis and sustainable management planning.
- Scenario Exploration: Enables exploration of usage and climatic scenarios to predict potential impacts on aquifer systems.
- Case-study Validation (Warrion, Australia): Demonstrated high coefficients of efficiency across numerous observation bores in the Warrion groundwater management area.
Methodology:
Time-series modeling combined with a genetic evolutionary scheme for joint estimation of recharge, transmissivity, storativity, and usage aligned with metered volumes, accompanied by data quality analysis and repeated calibrations to test consistency.
