MapStore

MapStore provides management, ingestion, and distribution of spatial and meteorological datasets within the Lamma Open Data platform for geospatial and weather-forecasting research.

Key Features:

• Dataset coverage: Integrates over 220 datasets related to weather forecasting and geospatial information within the Lamma Open Data platform and the Lamma Geoportal.
• Data licensing and reuse: Publishes datasets under the CC-BY (Attribution Creative Commons) license and supports legal-compliant download and federation with other open data portals such as Open Tuscany.
• Real-time ingestion: Connects to the Geonetwork metadata catalogue to enable real-time ingestion of datasets into the geoportal.
• Open-source infrastructure: Utilizes CKAN for data management and Open Source MapStore components for geoportal functionality.
• Data evaluation and analysis: Implements a preliminary evaluation phase for meteorological information—including models, archives, and various file formats—to identify elements for publication and to define filters and elaborations for significant variables.
• Integrated spatial data infrastructure: Forms part of an integrated infrastructure for spatial data management supported by Life+IMAGINE funding and Geosolutions and maintained by the Lamma Consortium.

Methodology:

MapStore connects to the Geonetwork metadata catalogue for real-time dataset ingestion, uses CKAN and Open Source MapStore components for data management and geoportal functionality, and applies a preliminary evaluation and analysis phase to meteorological models, archives, and various file formats to identify publishable elements and define filters and elaborations.
