NBDC RDF Portal
NBDC RDF Portal aggregates life science datasets in the Resource Description Framework (RDF) and exposes them via SPARQL endpoints to enable database interoperability, large-scale semantic querying, and automatic data processing.
Key Features:
- RDF-formatted datasets: Houses life science datasets represented in the Resource Description Framework (RDF).
- SPARQL endpoints: Provides SPARQL endpoints for all included datasets to support semantic queries across datasets.
- Dataset metadata: Includes metadata for each dataset describing context and scope.
- RDF file downloads: Allows download of RDF files for local computational analyses.
- Scale: Contains 21 RDF datasets comprising over 45.5 billion triples (as of July 2018).
- Curation and review: Datasets are reviewed by the National Bioscience Database Center (NBDC) to ensure interoperability and queryability.
Scientific Applications:
- Database integration: Enables integration of disparate life science databases through RDF-based semantic standardization.
- Semantic querying and automation: Supports complex SPARQL-based queries and automatic data processing across integrated datasets.
- Large-scale semantic analysis: Facilitates analyses across billions of RDF triples for bioinformatics research.
Methodology:
Datasets are represented in RDF, exposed via SPARQL endpoints, and reviewed by the NBDC to ensure interoperability and queryability.
