NGL
NGL renders interactive 3D molecular structures using WebGL to visualize proteins, nucleic acids (DNA/RNA), and other biomolecules for structural analysis and validation.

Scientific Applications:
- Model Validation: Displays and facilitates inspection of validation outliers and local errors in macromolecular models and integrates with the MolProbity validation workflow.
- CryoEM Analysis: Supports analysis of cryo-electron microscopy (cryoEM)-derived structures at resolutions around 3–4Å and can be used with CaBLAM to diagnose local errors when other validation outliers are removed.
- Structural Data Visualization: Facilitates visualization of complex structural datasets for interpretation of proteins, nucleic acids, and related biomolecular assemblies.
Methodology:
Integrated into the MolProbity validation workflow, NGL uses WebGL rendering to display and interactively highlight validation outliers on 3D models, recapturing functionalities lost with the deprecation of Java applets.
