OC_manager

OC_manager automates TLC/HPTLC-MS hyphenation workflows to perform synchronized plate movement, batch-wise zone elution, and MS data acquisition for precise chromatographic analysis.

Key Features:

  • Automation and synchronization: Automates precise plate movement, batch-wise zone elution, and cleaning processes while synchronizing these operations with mass spectrometry (MS) data acquisition.
  • Adjustable cleaning mechanisms: Provides adjustable cleaning intensity and interval settings for the elution head and MS transfer line to reduce residual solvent or particulate contamination.
  • Contamination prevention (short gas beam): Implements a short gas beam across the elution zone to prevent contamination or leakage from released layer particles and to avoid zone distortion from residual eluent flow during elution-head lifting.
  • Zone selection and positioning: Selectable zones on the chromatogram are automatically positioned below the elution head for sealing and subsequent elution.
  • Precision positioning: Achieves mean spatial deviations of 160 µm for track-wise and 190 µm for randomized zone positioning order.
  • Reproducibility and quantitative performance: Demonstrates reproducible elution of analytes such as butyl paraben with quantitative performance R² = 0.992–0.999.
  • Compact electronic design: Uses a stand-alone, compact electronic system with a minimalistic positioning system and internally installed valves to maintain a small footprint.

Scientific Applications:

  • High-throughput HPTLC-MS hyphenation: Enables high-throughput hyphenated analyses combining thin-layer chromatography with mass spectrometry.
  • Pharmaceutical analysis: Applicable to quantitative and qualitative analysis of pharmaceutical compounds separated by TLC/HPTLC.
  • Environmental analysis: Suitable for analysis of environmental samples requiring chromatographic separation and MS detection.
  • Biochemical research: Facilitates biochemical and analytical studies that require integration of chromatographic separation with mass spectrometric detection.
  • Integrated data evaluation: Supports integration of MS data evaluation with previous HPTLC results for comprehensive analytical studies.

Methodology:

Automated precise plate movement, batch-wise zone elution, and cleaning processes with adjustable intensity/interval, synchronized with MS data acquisition and integrated with MS data evaluation of prior HPTLC results.
