PADS Arsenal

PADS Arsenal organizes and annotates prokaryotic defense system gene datasets to enable comparative and evolutionary analysis of defense mechanisms across archaea and bacteria.

Key Features:

  • Comprehensive Data Integration: Integrates annotations for over 6.6 million genes across 18 defense-system categories from 63,701 genomes spanning 33,390 species of archaea and bacteria.
  • Advanced Retrieval and Visualization: Provides multiple retrieval methods and diverse visualization modes for detailed inspection of defense system-related genes and their annotations.
  • Online Analysis Pipeline: Includes an integrated online pipeline for annotation and evolutionary analysis of defense genes.
  • Pan-genome Analysis Visualization: Offers dynamic visualization for examining variation of defense genes across pan-genomes.

Scientific Applications:

  • Comparative Genomics: Comparative analysis of defense system composition and distribution across archaeal and bacterial species.
  • Evolutionary Analysis: Investigation of defense gene evolution and phylogenetic distribution.
  • Biochemistry and Drug Development: Identification and characterization of defense system genes relevant to biochemical studies and antimicrobial drug discovery.
  • Pan-genome Diversity Studies: Examination of presence/absence and variation of defense genes within and between pan-genomes.

Methodology:

Integration of defense-system data from 18 categories and annotation of >6.6 million genes from 63,701 genomes (33,390 species), coupled with an online pipeline for gene annotation and evolutionary analysis and visualization of pan-genome variation.
