PFOND aggregates and distributes curated information, literature, and community-contributed content on rare neurodevelopmental disorders to support information sharing and research awareness.

Key Features:

• Dynamic Content Management: Uses WordPress core with existing and customized supplementary plug-in modules to produce themed sites, topic-specific pages, and integrate RSS feeds for news and research publications.
• Gamification and Scoring: Implements gamification elements and a scoring system to record editor contributions and quantify engagement.
• Content Partitioning: Organizes content into distinct partitions for background information, recent publications, and community discussions.
• Editor Progress Metrics: Records and evaluates editor progress scores as quantitative measures of contribution and performance.
• Prototype Assessment: Includes prototype testing across multiple disease sites to evaluate functionality and content workflows.

Scientific Applications:

• Information aggregation for rare disorders: Centralizes background material, recent publications, and community discussion relevant to conditions such as Aarskog-Scott syndrome, Aniridia, Adams-Oliver syndrome, Cat Eye syndrome, Kabuki syndrome, Leigh syndrome, Peters anomaly, and Rothmund-Thomson syndrome.
• Literature and news integration: Integrates RSS feeds and community-contributed content to disseminate emerging research findings and related news.

Methodology:

Implemented using WordPress core with custom supplementary plug-in modules and RSS integration; the prototype organized content into partitions for background information, recent publications, and community discussions, was tested across disease sites, and was assessed using editor progress scores.
