SugarSketcher

SugarSketcher renders glycan structures using Symbol Nomenclature for Glycans (SNFG) notation and provides export of carbohydrate sequence representations for glycoinformatics representation and data exchange.

Key Features:

  • Implementation: Implemented as a JavaScript module for client-side execution.
  • Notation support: Renders glycan structures using the Symbol Nomenclature for Glycans (SNFG).
  • Export formats: Exports glycan representations and images, including GlycoCT for sequence encoding and SVG for scalable images.
  • Client-side operation: Operates without requiring a backend server for rendering and export functions.

Scientific Applications:

  • Glycan visualization: Visualization of glycan structures in standardized SNFG notation for analysis and publication.
  • Sequence encoding: Generation of GlycoCT-encoded carbohydrate sequences for integration into glycoinformatics workflows and databases.
  • Data exchange: Creation of standardized representations and image exports to facilitate sharing of glycan data among researchers.
  • Education and training: Use in teaching carbohydrate structure representation and interpretation using SNFG and exported formats.

Methodology:

Implemented in JavaScript; renders structures using SNFG notation; exports GlycoCT and SVG representations; performs rendering and export client-side without a backend server.
