WALTZ-DB

WALTZ-DB provides a curated database of amyloid-forming hexapeptide sequences with structural, experimental, and energetic data to support studies of amyloid fibril formation.


Key Features:

  • Experimental Validation: Contains 229 hexapeptides experimentally validated by electron microscopy and Thioflavin-T binding assays.
  • Literature Curation: Includes 98 additional amyloid-forming peptides manually curated from the scientific literature.
  • Structural Information: Provides 3D models of putative amyloid fibril cores for peptide entries, including sequences carried over from the previous database version, generated using a computational methodology developed at the Switch lab.
  • Energetic and Stability Data: Reports energetic contributions and stability information for the fibril cores associated with each peptide entry.

Scientific Applications:

  • Prediction of Aggregation-Prone Sequences: Supports development and benchmarking of methods to predict sequences prone to amyloid aggregation using experimentally validated peptides and structural models.
