WAVES

WAVES provides a platform to integrate and expose bioinformatics tools and services and to enable their execution on diverse computational environments such as Galaxy instances.

Key Features:

  • Access methods: Exposes services via dedicated web pages, embeddable web forms, and a RESTful web services API for remote application access.
  • Galaxy integration: Interfaces with Galaxy instances to execute Galaxy-managed tools and workflows as services.
  • Service automation: Automates the availability and exposure of bioinformatics services across platforms and environments.
  • Implementation: Implemented as a Django application written in Python.
  • Reusability and portability: Packaged as a reusable web application intended for deployment of diverse bioinformatic software services.

Scientific Applications:

  • Service deployment: Deploys bioinformatics tools and software as remotely accessible services.
  • Workflow integration: Enables remote applications and workflows to invoke bioinformatics services via a RESTful API.
  • Scalable computation: Runs analyses on external computational environments such as Galaxy instances to scale bioinformatics computations.

Methodology:

Implemented in Django (Python); exposes services through web pages, embeddable web forms, and a RESTful web services API; integrates with Galaxy instances to execute computations.
