AgingReG

AgingReG curates experimentally validated regulatory relationships associated with human aging and cellular senescence to compile gene, external-factor, and pathway interactions for analysis of aging mechanisms.

Key Features:

  • Curated Data: The database contains 2,157 entries comprising 1,345 gene entries, 804 external factor entries, and eight pathway entries, derived from manual curation of over 1,784 published studies.
  • Classification of Regulatory Relationships: Relationships are categorized as upregulation (aging factors enhance target gene expression), downregulation (aging factors reduce target gene expression), activation (aging factors modulate target gene activity), and inhibition (aging factors suppress activation leading to diminished or lost activity).
  • Regulatory Pair Counts: AgingReG documents 1,647 regulatory pairs, including 651 upregulating pairs, 632 downregulating pairs, 330 activation-regulating pairs, and 34 inhibition-regulating pairs.
  • Context Coverage: Entries span over 195 disease types and more than 800 cell and tissue types, capturing diverse biological contexts of aging processes.

Scientific Applications:

  • Research Resource: Provides experimentally validated regulatory relationships to support investigation of molecular mechanisms underlying aging and age-related diseases and to facilitate hypothesis generation and testing.
  • Integrative Analysis: Enables integration of curated regulatory relationships for network-level analyses and discovery of interaction patterns that drive aging and cellular senescence.

Methodology:

Data were collected by manual curation and integration of experimentally validated evidence from over 1,784 published studies.
