Aln2tbl

Aln2tbl generates feature tables and submission-ready SQN files from manually curated mitochondrial genome alignments in FASTA format to support mitochondrial genome annotation and database submission.

Key Features:

  • Automated Feature Table Generation: Creates an initial feature table from a manually refined alignment of mitochondrial genes in FASTA format.
  • Integration with Manual Curation: Preserves and incorporates user-provided annotations and notes from manual refinements made in graphic alignment editors.
  • Submission-ready SQN Export: Produces a submission-ready SQN file from the refined feature table for direct database submission.

Scientific Applications:

  • Mitochondrial genome sequencing and annotation: Facilitates conversion of curated gene alignments into standardized feature tables for genome annotation workflows.
  • Phylogenetic studies: Provides detailed mitochondrial annotations that support phylogenetic and comparative analyses.
  • Evolutionary biology: Enables analysis of mitochondrial DNA variation and adaptations for evolutionary investigations.

Methodology:

Accepts a manually curated alignment of mitochondrial genes in FASTA format, reconstructs a feature table with mitochondrial-specific annotations, and can export a submission-ready SQN file.
