ArtiaX
ArtiaX enables interactive selection, visualization, editing, and export of sub-tomograms within UCSF ChimeraX to support cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) analysis and sub-tomogram averaging.
Key Features:
- Interactive Display and Selection: Displays and allows selection of particles directly from tomograms for downstream sub-tomogram analysis.
- Real-Time Editing: Enables real-time setting, modification, and inspection of particle positions and orientations.
- Parallel Visualization: Supports simultaneous visualization of multiple particles across metadata lists for comparative analysis within the tomographic volume.
- Customizable Rendering: Provides particle rendering configurable by color or colormap and supports highlighting classes, groups, and cross-correlation coefficients.
- Export Functionality: Exports selected particle metadata and positions to various file formats for integration with other tools and workflows.
Scientific Applications:
- Structural Biology: Facilitates analysis of macromolecular complexes in cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) datasets to support structure determination at near-atomic resolution.
- Sub-tomogram Averaging Workflows: Streamlines particle selection and curation for sub-tomogram averaging and downstream structural determination.
Methodology:
Integration of advanced visualization techniques with robust data handling within UCSF ChimeraX, enabling real-time interaction and manipulation of sub-tomograms.
