Bacting

Bacting provides a scriptable bioinformatics and chemoinformatics platform that defines common domain objects and exposes domain-specific managers for programmatic handling of life sciences data.

Key Features:

  • Scripting flexibility: Supports scripting in JavaScript, Python, Groovy and other Java-derived languages for programmatic analysis.
  • Modular architecture: Leverages OSGi and the Spring Framework to inject domain-specific functionality into the scripting environment.
  • Domain model and managers: Defines common domain objects and exposes managers accessible within scripts that encapsulate essential chemical and biological functionalities.

Scientific Applications:

  • Cheminformatics: Represents chemical entities and operations as domain objects and managers for cheminformatics analyses.
  • Bioinformatics: Represents biological entities and handles diverse life sciences data types for bioinformatics workflows.
  • Script-driven analyses: Enables programmatic, script-based processing and automation of life sciences data workflows.

Methodology:

Supports scripting in JavaScript, Python and Groovy (and other Java-derived languages); uses OSGi and the Spring Framework to inject domain-specific managers into the scripting environment; defines common domain objects and encapsulates essential functionalities.
