BarleyExpDB

BarleyExpDB provides an integrated RNA-sequencing expression database for barley (Hordeum vulgare) enabling analysis of transcriptional profiles across tissues, developmental stages, stress conditions, mutants, and populations.

Key Features:

  • Comprehensive RNA-seq integration: Consolidates RNA-sequencing datasets covering growth stages, developmental phases, tissues, stress conditions, mutants, and diverse populations.
  • Differential expression data: Includes differential expression data from mutants and diverse populations.
  • Functional annotations: Links expression data to Gene Ontology (GO), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG), Pfam, and SMART annotations.
  • Expression visualization: Provides heat map visualizations of gene expression patterns.
  • Search by identifier or sequence similarity: Supports queries using known gene identifiers or sequence-similarity searches.

Scientific Applications:

  • Gene function analysis: Enables investigation of gene functions and interactions by examining expression patterns across conditions.
  • Crop improvement: Assists identification of genes associated with agronomic traits to support molecular breeding in barley.
  • Stress response studies: Facilitates analysis of transcriptional responses to stressors to explore mechanisms of stress tolerance.

Methodology:

Integrates RNA-seq datasets and incorporates differential expression data from mutants and populations; links annotations from Gene Ontology (GO), KEGG, Pfam, and SMART; provides heat map visualization and supports queries by gene identifiers or sequence similarity.
