BAS-Calc
BAS-Calc calculates the Breast Aesthetic Scale (BAS) score to provide an objective assessment of aesthetic outcomes after cosmetic breast surgery.
Key Features:
- Objective Assessment: Computes the Breast Aesthetic Scale (BAS) score to quantify aesthetic outcome and breast asymmetry.
- Algorithm Implementation: Implements a refined algorithm based on the Objective Breast Cosmesis Scale (OBCS) for asymmetry assessment.
- Reproducibility Evaluation: Includes reproducibility evaluation using statistical agreement metrics derived from surgeon ratings on photographic data.
Scientific Applications:
- Symmetry Evaluation: Objective estimation and categorical discrimination of post-surgical breast symmetry into "symmetric" or "asymmetric" outcomes.
- Reproducibility Studies: Assessment of intrarater and interrater reliability of aesthetic scoring using photographic datasets and surgeon raters.
Methodology:
Reproducibility and agreement were assessed on a set of 25 photographs evaluated twice by two different surgeons; intrarater and interrater variability were quantified using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC = 0.953) and Lin concordance/correlation coefficients (0.950), and BAS-Calc categorization was compared with Breast Analyzing Tool® using Cohen’s κ = 0.920.
