BastionHub
BastionHub integrates and analyzes protein substrates secreted by the five major Gram-negative bacterial secretion systems (Types I–IV and VI) to support comparative and functional studies of bacterial secretion, virulence, and microbial interactions.
Key Features:
- Comprehensive substrate coverage: Integrates substrates from secretion Types I, II, III, IV, and VI, including Type I and Type II substrates that were previously underrepresented.
- Prediction tools: Implements state-of-the-art prediction tools for identifying secreted substrates.
- Visualized relationship analysis: Provides visual analyses of relationships among substrates to aid discovery and functional inference.
- Functional analysis modules: Offers extensive functional modules for annotation and comparative analysis of secreted substrates.
- Cross-system comparative analysis: Enables comparative studies across secretion system types to examine substrate distribution and function.
- Hypothesis generation support: Facilitates identification of candidate substrates and formulation of hypotheses about bacterial virulence mechanisms and host or interbacterial interactions.
Scientific Applications:
- Virulence mechanism studies: Analysis of secreted effectors to investigate bacterial virulence mechanisms.
- Novel substrate discovery: Identification and characterization of previously unrecognized secreted substrates.
- Secretion repertoire comparison: Comparison of secretion repertoires across Gram-negative bacteria to study functional divergence.
- Microbial interaction research: Examination of substrates involved in interactions with hosts or neighboring microbes to inform studies of microbial ecology and pathogenesis.
Methodology:
Integration of substrate data across Types I–IV and VI, application of state-of-the-art prediction tools, visualized relationship analysis, and extensive functional annotation modules.
