BioAge

BioAge quantifies biological age from blood chemistry and organ-function-test data to provide measures usable as surrogate markers in epidemiology, population science, and geroscience clinical trials.


Key Features:

  • Implementation of Established Methods: Implements Klemera-Doubal Biological Age (KDBA), which integrates chronological age and mortality risk to estimate biological age; PhenoAge, which combines chronological age with clinical biomarkers to predict lifespan; and the Homeostatic Dysregulation Index, which quantifies loss of physiological homeostasis.
  • Customization and Flexibility: Allows parametrization of KDBA, PhenoAge, and Homeostatic Dysregulation algorithms using custom sets of biomarkers.
  • Comparative Analysis: Enables comparison of customized measurements against published KDBA and PhenoAge algorithms for validation and benchmarking.
  • Scoring in New Datasets: Provides functionality to compute biological age measures in external datasets.

Methodology:

Implemented as an R package available at http://github.com/dayoonkwon/BioAge and leveraging publicly accessible software packages to compute biological aging measurements from blood chemistry data.
