HIREewas
HIREewas implements the HIgh REsolution (HIRE) statistical model for detecting cell-type-specific risk-CpG sites in epigenome-wide association studies.
Key Features:
- Aggregated association detection: Improves statistical power for detecting CpG-phenotype associations at the aggregated sample level compared to existing methods.
- Cell-type-specific resolution: Enables identification of risk-CpG sites within individual cell types rather than only at the bulk tissue level.
- Deconvolution of mixed methylation signals: Accounts for measured signals being mixtures of methylation profiles from different cell types.
Scientific Applications:
- Epigenome-wide association studies: Determines which specific cell types harbor phenotype-affected risk-CpG sites in complex tissues with heterogeneous cell composition.
Methodology:
The HIRE statistical model.
