multiMiR
multiMiR integrates microRNA-target interactions from multiple external databases with their disease and drug associations for analysis in R.
Key Features:
- Comprehensive Database Compilation: Compiles nearly 50 million records in human and mouse from 14 different databases, including validated, predicted, disease annotation, and drug microRNA-response databases.
- Validated microRNA-Target Databases: Integrates experimentally validated interactions from miRecords, miRTarBase, and TarBase.
- Predicted microRNA-Target Databases: Incorporates computationally predicted interactions from DIANA-microT, ElMMo, MicroCosm, miRanda, miRDB, PicTar, PITA, and TargetScan.
- microRNA-Disease and Drug Databases: Includes associations from miR2Disease, Pharmaco-miR VerSe, and PhenomiR.
- User-Defined Binding Strength Cutoffs: Allows user-defined cutoffs for predicted binding strength to provide the most confident selection of interactions.
Scientific Applications:
- Mouse Models of Alcohol Consumption: Used to analyze microRNA-target interactions in studies of alcohol consumption in mouse models.
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease: Applied to investigate microRNA-target interactions in human subjects with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
- Bladder Cancer Metastasis: Utilized in human cell line models to study microRNA-target interactions in bladder cancer metastasis.
- Hypothesis Generation: Enables generation of testable hypotheses for experimental pursuit through integrated microRNA-target analysis.
Methodology:
multiMiR compiles and integrates records from 14 external databases into an R package, with user-defined cutoffs for predicted binding strength.
