rhdf5
rhdf5 provides an interface between HDF5 and R for storing, accessing, and exchanging very large and/or complex datasets and metadata on mass storage through a portable file format.
Key Features:
- HDF5-R Interface: Enables bidirectional data exchange between R and HDF5-compatible software.
- Large Dataset Handling: Allows R applications to work on datasets larger than available RAM.
- Metadata Support: Stores and accesses a wide variety of metadata alongside datasets.
- Portable File Format: Uses HDF5's completely portable file format for cross-platform compatibility.
Scientific Applications:
- Large Dataset Exchange: Facilitates transfer of large and/or complex datasets between R and other software packages.
- Out-of-Core Data Analysis: Enables analysis of datasets exceeding available system memory in R applications.
Methodology:
rhdf5 interfaces with the HDF5 library to provide R bindings for reading and writing HDF5 files.
