RNAAgeCalc
RNAAgeCalc provides across-tissue and tissue-specific transcriptional age calculation based on GTEx RNASeq data.
Key Features:
- Multi-tissue age prediction: Performs across-tissue and tissue-specific transcriptional age calculation.
- Meta-analysis derived gene signatures: Identifies 1,616 common age-related genes through meta-analysis of transcriptional age signatures across multi-tissues using the GTEx database, as well as tissue-specific age-related genes.
- Age predictor comparison: Transcriptional age calculator outperforms other prior age related gene signatures with higher correlation with chronological age and lower median and median error.
- Transcriptional age acceleration analysis: Computes transcriptional age acceleration from within-tissue predictors that correlates with mutation burden, mortality risk and cancer stage.
- Complementary aging information: Offers complementary information to DNA methylation age.
Scientific Applications:
- Aging research: Predicts biological aging from RNA transcription data as an effective indicator of morbidity and mortality.
- Cancer studies: Analyzes transcriptional age acceleration correlated with mutation burden, mortality risk and cancer stage in several types of cancer from the TCGA database.
- Racial and tissue difference analysis: Investigates associations between racial differences, tissue differences and transcriptional age.
Methodology:
Meta-analysis of transcriptional age signatures across multi-tissues using the GTEx database to identify common and tissue-specific age-related genes, followed by development of across-tissue and tissue-specific age predictors based on these genes.
