rsemmed
rsemmed provides a programmatic interface to the Semantic MEDLINE database for searching biomedical concepts, finding paths between concepts, and summarizing and visualizing those paths.
Key Features:
- Concept Search: Provides functions for searching the Semantic MEDLINE database for biomedical concepts.
- Path Finding: Finds paths between concepts in the Semantic MEDLINE database.
- Customizable Path Searching: Path searching can be tailored by placing restrictions on concept types and the type of link between concepts.
- Summarization: Provides functions for summarizing paths between concepts.
- Visualization: Provides functions for visualizing paths between concepts.
Scientific Applications:
- Biomedical Literature Mining: Enables programmatic access to the Semantic MEDLINE database for extracting relationships between biomedical concepts.
- Knowledge Graph Exploration: Supports discovery of connections between concepts in biomedical knowledge networks with user-specified constraints.
Methodology:
The package interfaces programmatically with the Semantic MEDLINE database to query concepts and traverse paths between them, with optional filtering by concept types and link types.
