scPassport
scPassport stamps Seurat, SingleCellExperiment, and SummarizedExperiment objects with a persistent metadata passport that tracks animal info, experiment details, lineage, RDS registry numbers, processing logs, and custom fields.
Key Features:
- Persistent Metadata Storage: Stores the passport in the misc slot for Seurat objects and in the metadata slot for SingleCellExperiment and SummarizedExperiment objects.
- Lineage Tracking: Records parent/child relationships between objects to track data provenance.
- Processing Logs: Maintains a history of computational steps applied to the object.
- Custom Fields: Supports user-defined metadata fields beyond the predefined categories.
- RDS Integration: Embeds the passport directly within the RDS file with no external files needed.
Scientific Applications:
- Single-Cell Data Provenance: Enables reproducibility by maintaining comprehensive metadata records for single-cell analysis objects.
- Experimental Metadata Management: Tracks animal information and experiment details alongside molecular data.
- Analysis Lineage Documentation: Preserves the complete history of data transformations and object derivations in single-cell workflows.
Methodology:
The package stamps objects with metadata passports stored in object-specific slots, with read functionality to print the full passport to console.
