TrIdent
TrIdent automates the analysis of transductomics data by detecting, classifying, and characterizing read coverage patterns associated with potential transduction events.
Key Features:
- Transduction event detection: Identifies read coverage patterns indicative of ongoing transduction from bacterial DNA carried by viral-like particles.
- Pattern classification: Classifies detected read coverage patterns associated with potential transduction events.
- Pattern characterization: Characterizes the nature of detected read coverage patterns to provide detailed information about transduction events.
- Support for complex communities: Analyzes transduction events in both pure cultures and complex microbial communities.
Scientific Applications:
- Transductomics data analysis: Processes DNA sequencing data from viral-like particle fractions mapped to metagenome-assembled contigs to detect transduction.
- Metagenomic transduction studies: Enables detection and characterization of transduction events in whole-community metagenomic samples.
Methodology:
TrIdent maps sequencing reads from a viral-like particle (VLP)-fraction of a sample to contigs assembled from the metagenome (whole-community) of the same sample, then analyzes the resulting read coverage patterns.
