BioStructures.jl

BioStructures.jl provides reading, writing, and manipulation of macromolecular structures to support structural bioinformatics analyses of proteins.

Key Features:

  • Format Support: Supports Protein Data Bank (PDB), mmCIF, and MMTF file formats and reads them into a hierarchical data structure for efficient manipulation and analysis.
  • Performance: Engineered for high-performance parsing and manipulation of macromolecular data to enable processing of large datasets.
  • Object Representation: Offers a flexible object representation system for interacting with macromolecular data at multiple hierarchical levels.
  • Spatial Calculations and PDB Functionality: Provides capabilities for spatial calculations and access to various PDB-related functionalities.

Scientific Applications:

  • Data Analysis: Facilitates detailed analysis of macromolecular structures, including spatial calculations and use of PDB functionalities.
  • Research Development: Supports development of new structural biology methodologies by providing a platform for programmatic data manipulation and interpretation of protein structures.

Methodology:

Implemented in the Julia programming language and compatible with Julia 0.6 and later.
