BioViz Connect
BioViz Connect links the CyVerse science gateway to the Integrated Genome Browser (IGB) to enable streaming of genomic datasets, metadata-enhanced track configuration, and execution of compute-intensive visual analytics for interactive genomic visualization.
Key Features:
- Data Streaming: Streams data directly from the CyVerse data store into IGB to support real-time visualization of genomic datasets.
- Metadata Enhancement: Attaches and manages file-level metadata on CyVerse data files, including genome version and track appearance, to control IGB track configuration.
- Compute-Intensive Visual Analytics: Dispatches compute-intensive visual-analytics functions to CyVerse infrastructure to generate visualization-ready datasets for IGB or other applications.
Scientific Applications:
- Interactive visualization of large genomic datasets: Enables exploratory inspection and interactive visualization of large experimental genomic datasets hosted on CyVerse.
- RNA-Seq analysis in Arabidopsis thaliana: Supports visualization of RNA-Seq-derived datasets, exemplified by gene expression analyses under heat and desiccation stresses in Arabidopsis thaliana.
Methodology:
Streams data from the CyVerse data store into IGB, writes and manages metadata fields such as genome version and track appearance on CyVerse files, and submits compute-intensive visual-analytics jobs to CyVerse infrastructure to produce visualization-ready datasets.
