BossDB

BossDB provides storage and programmatic access to petabyte-scale volumetric neuroscience imaging datasets to support scalable indexing, querying, and annotation for large-scale neuroimaging analyses.

Key Features:

  • Scalable Storage and Access: Handles storage and retrieval of petascale volumetric image datasets with architecture that supports dataset-scale growth.
  • RESTful API Integration: Exposes a RESTful API for programmatic data ingest, retrieval, and interaction with volumetric data.
  • Spatial Data Indexing: Implements scalable spatial indexing mechanisms to enable efficient queries across large volumetric datasets.
  • Annotation Support: Stores and exposes automatic and manual annotations that mark regions of interest within volumetric datasets.

Scientific Applications:

  • Neuroimaging Studies: Storage and access of high-resolution brain imaging data to support analyses of neural structure and function.
  • Data Sharing and Collaboration: Distribution and programmatic exchange of large volumetric datasets with associated annotations for collaborative research.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Research: Application to other fields generating volumetric data, such as genomics and materials science, for large-scale spatial analyses.

Methodology:

Cloud-based data ingestion and storage combined with advanced spatial indexing techniques and RESTful API integration.
