BRH provides a federated, cloud-based platform for managing, integrating, and analyzing patient-level biomedical data across data commons while enforcing per-resource governance and FAIR principles.

Key Features:

• Cloud-Based Infrastructure: Utilizes public cloud computing platforms to provide scalable, secure aggregation and analysis of over 6 petabytes (PB) of data from more than 400,000 research participants across multiple data commons.
• Federated System Architecture: Integrates independently operated data resources that retain their own governance rules while contributing data via FAIR-compliant APIs and separate data models.
• Framework Services: Implements core services including Authentication and Authorization, FAIR data generation and assessment, and bulk clinical data import/export.
• Data Commons and Workspaces: Hosts multiple data commons and provides workspaces to access and analyze data from one or more data resources.
• Interoperability and Reusability: Exposes FAIR-compliant APIs and supports various data models to promote interoperability among datasets and enhance data reusability.

Methodology:

Operates on public cloud computing platforms using a federated network of independently operated data resources with per-resource governance and separate data models; exposes FAIR-compliant APIs and provides framework services (Authentication and Authorization, FAIR data generation and assessment, bulk clinical data import/export); aggregates and analyzes over 6 PB of data from more than 400,000 research participants and provides workspaces for data access and analysis.
