BYKdb

BYKdb curates and annotates bacterial tyrosine kinase (BY-kinase) sequences by identifying candidate proteins and enriching their annotations using data from UniProtKB.

Key Features:

  • BY-Kinase Sequence Repository: Provides a curated collection of bacterial protein tyrosine kinase (BY-kinase) sequences.
  • Two-Step Identification and Annotation Workflow: Identifies BY-kinase sequences using previously established detection methods and performs detailed annotation of corresponding UniProtKB entries.
  • Integrated Sequence Analysis Tools: Includes computational tools for analyzing BY-kinase protein sequences and related annotations.
  • Annotated Protein Data Integration: Enriches sequence entries with functional and structural annotations derived from UniProtKB.

Scientific Applications:

  • Bacterial Signaling Research: Supports investigation of bacterial protein tyrosine kinase signaling mechanisms.
  • Protein Function Analysis: Facilitates study of structural and functional properties of BY-kinase proteins.
  • Evolutionary Studies of Kinases: Enables comparative analysis of bacterial tyrosine kinases across species.

Methodology:

BYKdb identifies BY-kinase sequences using previously established detection methods and performs detailed annotation of corresponding protein entries within the UniProtKB database.
