Cell-cell interaction database
Cell-cell interaction database provides a curated collection of 520 cell-cell interactions annotated with 38 context features across seven categories to support analysis of single-cell sequencing data and design of molecular experiments.
Key Features:
- Contextual Information: Includes 38 types of context features categorized into seven categories: Interaction, Cell Type, Cofactor, Effector, Phenotype, Pathology, and Reference.
- Curated Data: Manually retrieved from 272 recent studies (published within the last six years) yielding 520 CCIs, each annotated with associated context features.
- Biological and Clinical Contexts: Annotations capture differences in cellular environments, gene mutations, and disease statuses to enable context-dependent comparison of interactions.
- Support for sequencing and experiments: Annotations are provided to facilitate analysis of single-cell sequencing data and to inform molecular experiment design.
Scientific Applications:
- Single-cell sequencing analysis: Enables identification and interpretation of context-dependent cell-cell interactions in single-cell datasets.
- Disease and pathology studies: Supports investigation of how gene mutations and disease statuses alter cell-cell interactions.
- Experimental design: Provides interaction-context pairs that can guide molecular experiments testing specific CCIs.
- Basic and clinical research: Serves as a reference for studies ranging from fundamental cellular communication to clinical investigations.
Methodology:
Manual literature curation by biodata engineers extracting 520 CCIs and annotating 38 context feature types from 272 studies published within the last six years.
