CentrosomeDB

CentrosomeDB curates and annotates genes and proteins associated with the centrosome in human and Drosophila to support studies of centrosome structure, function, evolution, protein–protein interactions, disease associations, SNPs, and gene expression.

Key Features:

  • Extensive Gene Repository: Contains 1357 annotated genes from human and Drosophila linked to centrosomal functions, including both core constituents and transient visitors.
  • Evidence Sources: Entries are identified and supported by high-throughput proteomics assays, public database annotations, and orthology relationships.
  • Curated Data Integration: Aggregates curated information from multiple public databases and the primary literature into a centralized dataset.
  • Functional Annotations: Provides annotations including Gene Ontology terms, disease associations, single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), gene expression data, evolutionary and structural information.
  • Protein-Protein Interactions: Emphasizes centrosomal protein–protein interaction data to support analysis of interaction networks.

Scientific Applications:

  • Microtubule Cytoskeleton Organization: Supports studies of interphase microtubule cytoskeleton organization mediated by centrosomal components.
  • Mitotic Spindle Assembly: Enables investigation of centrosome roles in mitotic spindle assembly.
  • Cellular Architecture: Facilitates analysis of centrosome contributions to cellular architecture and organization.
  • Genetic Disorder Research: Supports research into genetic disorders linked to centrosomal dysfunction.
  • Evolutionary Biology: Enables evolutionary analyses of centrosomal genes and proteins.
  • Interaction Network Analysis: Supports mapping and analysis of centrosomal protein interaction networks.

Methodology:

Data were curated and integrated from multiple public databases and the primary literature, with entries supported by evidence from high-throughput proteomics assays, public database annotations, and orthology relationships.
