circR2Cancer
circR2Cancer provides a curated database of experimentally verified associations between circular RNAs (circRNAs) and human cancers to support investigation of circRNA roles in oncogenesis and cancer progression.
Key Features:
- Manual curation: Data were manually curated from the literature and databases to ensure high-quality, experimentally supported circRNA–cancer associations.
- Extensive associations: Contains 1,439 experimentally supported associations involving 1,135 distinct circRNAs across 82 cancer types.
- Database integration: Integrates circRNA annotations from circBase and cancer terms from Disease Ontology.
Scientific Applications:
- Regulatory mechanism research: Enables investigation of regulatory mechanisms by which circRNAs influence cancer development and progression.
- Biomarker discovery: Supports identification of candidate circRNA biomarkers for cancer diagnosis, prognosis, or therapeutic targeting.
- Therapeutic development: Facilitates exploration of circRNA–cancer interactions to inform development of RNA-based therapeutic strategies.
Methodology:
Data were extracted from scientific literature and existing databases and then subjected to manual curation to include only experimentally validated circRNA–cancer associations.
