CorkOakDB provides a transcriptomic resource for Quercus suber based on over 7 million pyrosequencing reads from 21 normalized cDNA libraries to support investigation of cork formation and other physiological processes.

  • Extensive Sequence Data: Contains over 7 million sequence reads generated by pyrosequencing of 21 normalized cDNA libraries derived from diverse tissues, organs, developmental stages, and physiological conditions of Quercus suber.
  • Unigene Assembly: Assembles approximately 159,000 unigenes from the EST reads using a stringent data processing pipeline.
  • Comprehensive Annotation: Annotates each unigene by similarity to known plant genes and by Interpro domain assignment, Gene Ontology (GO) classification, and Enzyme Commission (E.C.) numbers.
  • Unique Gene Space: Includes an EST dataset subjected to phylogenetic analysis that reveals significant novel gene space not represented in other model species or existing EST projects.
