CoVennTree
CoVennTree performs comparative analysis of up to three complex datasets by aggregating and propagating information from individual data points to higher-level summaries for applications such as metatranscriptomics and microbial population studies and produces Cytoscape-compatible graphical outputs.
Key Features:
- Simultaneous comparison: Compares up to three diverse datasets concurrently to identify intersections and unique elements across datasets.
- Aggregation and propagation: Aggregates and propagates information from individual data points to higher-level summaries to preserve detailed information during summarization.
- Weighted Venn structures: Implements weighted Venn structures to correlate and aggregate dataset contents and relationships while retaining quantitative information about overlaps.
- Cytoscape-compatible output: Produces graphical outputs formatted for visualization in Cytoscape to represent complex relationships and intersections.
Scientific Applications:
- Metatranscriptomics comparative analysis: Enables comparison of metatranscriptomic datasets to identify shared and unique transcriptional signals across samples.
- Microbial population structure analysis: Applied to 16S rDNA sequence datasets from microbial populations at varying depths of the Gulf of Aqaba (Red Sea) to examine community distribution and relationships.
- Environmental and ecological microbiology: Supports studies that require understanding distribution and overlaps of microbial taxa or functional signals across environmental gradients.
Methodology:
Bottom-up data aggregation and propagation using weighted Venn structures to preserve and summarize detailed dataset information and generate Cytoscape-compatible graphical representations.
