CovInter

CovInter catalogs interactions between coronavirus RNAs and host proteins to provide a structured resource for analysis of virus–host molecular interactions relevant to viral replication and host response.

Key Features:

  • IVRHP characterization: Provides unambiguous description of interactions between coronavirus RNAs and host proteins (IVRHP).
  • Experimentally validated functions: Annotates biological functions for hundreds of host proteins with experimental validation.
  • Quantitative expression analysis: Systematically quantifies changes in expression patterns of key host proteins before and after infection.
  • Coronavirus coverage: Integrates interaction data for SARS-CoV-2, SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV, HCoV-229E, and HCoV-OC43.
  • Structured repository: Organizes virus RNA–host protein interaction data into a consolidated, searchable database schema.

Scientific Applications:

  • Molecular mechanism investigation: Enables study of virus–host molecular interactions that influence viral translation, replication, and host defense.
  • Comparative coronavirus analysis: Supports cross-species comparison of RNA–host protein interactions among SARS-CoV-2, SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV, HCoV-229E, and HCoV-OC43.
  • Antiviral target discovery: Provides annotated interaction and expression data to inform identification of host proteins as potential therapeutic targets.

Methodology:

Curation and structured annotation of virus RNA–host protein interactions, annotation of experimentally validated host protein functions, and systematic quantification of host protein expression changes before and after infection.
