CRAMdb

CRAMdb compiles and annotates metagenomic datasets from animal microbiomes to support analysis of microbiome composition and host phenotype associations across non-human animal species.

Key Features:

  • Curated Metagenomic Dataset Collection: Integrates consistently annotated microbiome datasets from 516 animals across 475 projects.
  • Multi-Platform Sequencing Data Integration: Includes microbiome profiles generated from 16S, 18S, ITS, and whole-metagenome sequencing data.
  • Microbial Taxonomic Coverage: Catalogs microbiota including bacteria (9430 types), archaea (278 types), fungi (2216 types), and viruses (458 types) identified in animal hosts.
  • Phenotype Pair Organization: Structures microbiome datasets into 43 phenotype pairs to enable cross-host and cross-phenotype comparisons.
  • Microbiome–Phenotype Association Data: Provides associations between microbial taxa and host phenotypes across animal species.
  • Comparative Microbiome Analysis: Supports comparison of microbiota composition across hosts, body sites, and phenotypic conditions.

Scientific Applications:

  • Host–Microbiome Interaction Studies: Enables investigation of relationships between microbiome composition and animal phenotypes.
  • Comparative Microbiome Research: Facilitates cross-species analysis of microbial communities in diverse animal hosts.
  • Microbial Ecology and Evolution: Supports studies of microbial diversity, host adaptation, and microbiome-associated traits.

Methodology:

CRAMdb integrates metagenomic datasets from animal microbiome studies and performs consistent annotation of sequencing data derived from 16S, 18S, ITS, and whole-metagenome sequencing to enable comparative microbiome and phenotype association analyses.
