CryoVR
CryoVR provides an immersive virtual reality environment for practicing cryogenic electron microscopy (cryoEM) experimental procedures to prepare users for acquiring high-resolution structures and studying the dynamics of macromolecular complexes and viruses under near-native conditions.
Key Features:
- Simulation of cryoEM procedures: Simulates cryoEM experimental procedures including virtual representations of microscopes and sample preparation tools.
- Assessment and certification: Includes an Exam mode for assessing procedural knowledge and skills and issuing certificates upon successful completion.
- User feedback and evaluation: Incorporates qualitative evaluations from users with varying cryoEM experience to assess training effectiveness.
Scientific Applications:
- Operator preparation: Prepares novice users for operating cryoEM apparatus and executing sample-preparation workflows prior to handling physical equipment.
- Structural biology training: Supports preparation for acquisition and analysis of high-resolution structures of macromolecular complexes and viruses using cryoEM.
Methodology:
Virtual reality simulation of cryoEM experimental procedures with an Exam mode for skill assessment and collection of qualitative user evaluations.
