DASty

DASty visualizes and integrates protein sequence feature annotations using the Distributed Annotation System (DAS) to provide access to UniProt sequences and InterPro-derived cross-references.

Key Features:

  • DAS Reference Server: Delivers sequence information and annotations sourced from UniProt and integrates feature links and database cross-references from InterPro.
  • DAS Client: Implements a client using Java and Macromedia Flash to display protein sequence features retrieved via DAS.

Scientific Applications:

  • Protein Feature Visualization: Provides visual representation of motifs, domains, and other sequence features to support analysis of protein structure and function.
  • Data Integration and Cross-referencing: Combines annotations from UniProt and InterPro to support comparative annotation and cross-database reference mapping.

Methodology:

DASty leverages the Distributed Annotation System (DAS) framework to enable distributed retrieval of annotations via a DAS reference server and a client implemented in Java and Macromedia Flash.
