DICED (Database of Identified Cleavage Sites Endemic to Diseases States)
DICED provides searchable access to proteolytic peptides identified in disease tissues using N-terminomics to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing in degradomics.
Key Features:
- Searchable Database: The database contains experimentally derived N-terminomics peptide datasets from tissues, diseases, or digests of tissue protein libraries using individual proteases.
- Query Options: Users can search using UniProt ID, protein name, gene symbol or up to 100 peptide sequences.
- Data Export: The tabular output format can be exported as a CSV file.
- Galaxy Integration: DICED is available as a Galaxy tool for workflow integration.
- Scalable Architecture: The underlying database permits addition of new datasets and features.
Scientific Applications:
- Degradomics Research: DICED supports proteome-scale investigation of proteolysis, an irreversible posttranslational modification with immense biological impact and high disease significance.
- Disease State Analysis: The database enables analysis of cleaved protein termini identified from disease tissues and tissue protein library digests using individual proteases.
- High-Throughput Mass Spectrometry Data Access: DICED provides access to high-throughput mass spectrometry-identified cleaved protein termini for downstream analysis.
Methodology:
N-terminomics comprising N-terminal protein labeling, labeled peptide enrichment, mass spectrometry and positional peptide annotation. DICED was constructed using Python, JavaScript, HTML, PostgreSQL, and the Django framework.
