DNASU Plasmid Repository
DNASU Plasmid Repository provides a centralized repository that stores, distributes, and annotates plasmid clones and collections to support molecular biology, structural biology, genetics, and biotechnology research, offering access to over 130,000 plasmids, including more than 45,000 human and mouse plasmids and protein expression plasmids from the Protein Structure Initiative (PSI).
Key Features:
- Centralized storage and distribution: Stores and distributes a wide array of plasmid clones and collections for research use.
- Extensive plasmid collection: Contains over 130,000 plasmids, including more than 45,000 human and mouse plasmids and full-genome collections from multiple organisms.
- Protein expression plasmids (PSI): Includes protein expression plasmids developed by the Protein Structure Initiative (PSI).
- Detailed annotations: Provides annotations for each plasmid including full-length sequences, vector details, and associated publications.
- Integration with additional resources: Links PSI plasmids to protein annotations and experimental data across other scientific resources.
- Expedited Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) process: Implements an Expedited Process MTA that pre-establishes transfer terms across a network of institutions to reduce processing times.
Scientific Applications:
- Molecular biology: Supplies genetic constructs for experimental studies of gene function and expression.
- Genetics: Provides plasmids for human and mouse models to support genetic manipulation and functional assays.
- Structural biology: Offers PSI-derived protein expression plasmids to support protein structure–function studies.
- Biotechnology and therapeutics: Enables studies of protein function and gene expression to support development of biotechnological applications and therapeutic strategies.
Methodology:
Curates and annotates plasmid data with full-length sequences, vector details, and publication links, and maintains infrastructure that supports search capabilities and integration with other scientific databases.
