DroPNet
DroPNet generates and analyzes protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks for Drosophila melanogaster by integrating user-provided gene lists from RNA interference (RNAi) screens and other gene expression studies with Drosophila and cross-species PPI datasets to identify direct and indirect interactions.
Key Features:
- Integration of Experimental Data: Integrates one or two user-provided gene lists from RNAi screens or other gene expression studies into network construction.
- Cross-Species PPI Data: Incorporates PPI information from Drosophila and other species to extend interaction coverage.
- Search Functionality: Searches for direct interactions among input genes and identifies intermediate proteins that link genes indirectly.
- Interactive Network Editing: Enables editing and refinement of constructed PPI networks.
- Highlighting Understudied Interactions: Provides a global view to identify specific interactions that are understudied or previously overlooked.
Scientific Applications:
- Functional Genomics (RNAi screens): Supports analysis of RNAi screen results to infer gene functions and interactions.
- Integration with Known PPIs: Maps experimental gene lists onto known PPI datasets to assess biological relevance of interactions.
- Pathway and Network Elucidation: Helps delineate genetic pathways and interaction networks underlying cellular processes.
Methodology:
Integrates user-supplied gene lists with comprehensive PPI datasets and applies algorithms to search for direct and indirect interactions and construct editable interaction maps.
