EDomics

EDomics provides a comparative multi-omics database of animal genomes, bulk transcriptomes, and single-cell data to support evolutionary developmental biology (evo-devo) analyses across 40 representative species.

Key Features:

  • Extensive Data Collection: Houses genomes, bulk transcriptomes, and single-cell datasets across 40 representative species, including common model organisms used in evo-devo studies.
  • Systematic Genomic/Transcriptomic View: Reports genome assembly statistics, gene features, gene families, transcription factors, transposable elements, and gene expression profiles and networks.
  • Single-Cell Expression Profiles: Provides spatiotemporal single-cell gene expression data including cell atlases, cell markers, and spatial mapping information.
  • Customized Datasets for Evo-Devo Research: Supplies specialized datasets and analyses such as gene family expansion/contraction analysis, inferred core gene repertoires, macrosynteny analysis for karyotype evolution, and cell type evolution analysis.

Scientific Applications:

  • Comparative evo-devo analyses: Enables cross-species comparisons of genomes and transcriptomes to study evolutionary patterns in development.
  • Evolution of developmental processes: Supports reconstruction and interpretation of the evolutionary history of developmental gene expression and regulatory features.
  • Karyotype evolution studies: Facilitates macrosynteny analyses to investigate karyotype evolution across taxa.
  • Cell type and spatial development studies: Uses single-cell atlases, markers, and spatial mapping to examine cell type evolution and spatiotemporal developmental dynamics.

Methodology:

The database systematically organizes and presents multi-omics data by incorporating genomes, bulk transcriptomes, and single-cell datasets to enable detailed comparative analyses across species.
